United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP/ Galiwango Film Endorsement: ”The aim of this film is to raise awareness about the plight of the Mountain Gorillas and the threats that they are exposed to. Although there are a variety of threats facing gorilla populations today, central threats include degradation and loss of habitat, direct exploitation, diseases, as well as the impact of war and political unrest in various range states.
Jagwe’s goal is not only to raise awareness and educate, but to also appeal on a local level to the younger generation of Ugandan’s and to catalyze conservation action on their part. It is for this reason that the film is written in Luganda, Uganda’s most widely spoken language. Read the Full Endorsement
Galiwango Film Preview Event | January 24th 2010 | Hi Guys, here is an update from the Galiwango Film Preview event (Photo Gallery), Sponsored by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, UWA (http://www.ugandawildlife.org) The event was a great success and I am proud of and grateful to every UWA member that helped so much to make the evening a success.
Before the Galiwango Film Preview event, I was granted a rare opportunity, by UWA, to go Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi – I tracked the most recently habituated Ugandan Mountain Gorilla group called Nshongi. It was such an amazing and eye opening experience. I left Bwindi with a greater resolve to get the Galiwango Film to my fellow Ugandans and the world as a whole. The Mountain Gorilla story needs to be told and the Galiwango Team and I are doing our best to represent this incredible national treasure in a unique way that we hope will get the message out locally through the animated luganda film: Galiwango Obulamu Bw’Ekisodde | The Life of a Mountain Gorilla. Check out the digital setting of Galiwango’s Story. The terrain was designed to loosely match the broad shouldered mountains that stretch between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, including references from Rwanda. Some Artistic License was employed. Enjoy the Visuals.
